The leaves are falling and the trees are losing their vigor, but the WCDS faculty members and students are still lively. Last week, the varsity boys' soccer squad honored its seniors after a win during the first round of state tournament. Yesterday, the soccer team, volleyball team and the girls' tennis team, ranked second in the state, competed with other teams, hoping to advance in their respective state tournaments. On Monday, Oct. 28, the first- and second-grade classes will go on on a field trip. There are many more exciting events happening, so check them out below!

Seven Wayne Country Day School teachers have won Tri-County Electric Membership Corporation's "Bright Idea" grants. Only 30 percent of the teacher applications were accepted and ours are: Bonnie Hughes, Dona Briggs, Dawn McDonald, Marsha Compton, Shanda Ginn, Joe Mitchell and Cathie Hooks. Each has been awarded $1,000 to further their educational projects in their respective classrooms. Congratulations to these educators!

It's a busy time in the Lower School. This week is the week for Lower School parent teacher conferences, so if you have a child in the elementary school, do not forget to schedule yours. This week is also Red Ribbon Week, which promotes drug awareness and encourages youth to lead healthy lives. Each day has a theme, so each student should pay attention to the schedule and dressed appropriately for each day.
