The For the Run for the Fallen held at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base last week raised more than $10,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project.

The half marathone run and the 5-kilometer run brought out 275 runners to raise money to help support programs and services for wounded veterans.

Guest speakers at the event were Medal of Honor recipient Joe Marm and Staff Sgt. Benjamin Seekell.

Caleb Guthmann was the first of 95 runners to cross the finish line in the half marathon. He finished in a time of 1:28:32. Rachael Davis was the top female finisher in 1:31.59.

In the 5K, Michael Fitzimmons came in first in a time of 18:49 and Tiffany Brakefield took first in the female division in 22:52.

Base officials said they hope to make the event an annual fundraiser and that a run might be held in the spring.
