A Goldsboro man shot outside the Huddle House at 2600 U.S. 117 South at 12:40 a.m. Friday is in fair condition at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, hospital officials say.
The lone suspect is in custody.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said Meta A. McCall, 40, of Wilson Street, was shot after a dispute that began during an alleged drug deal gone bad.
Investigators charged Ron Tavaris Coley, 29, 103 Shirley Drive, with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and placed him in the Wayne County Jail under a $102,000 secured bond.
The weapon used in the shooting was recovered at the scene, but no drugs were located.
