Although it's just September, the Salvation Army has already started its Christmas planning.

A big part of that is finding a place to sort through items purchased through the Angel Tree program and to hold distribution of the items to families.

"We need a storage building that we can do our distribution in," Salvation Army Lt. Julie Igleheart said.

"We need 6,000-plus square footage for us to take the Christmas items to, sort them out to make sure every child is taken care of and have them there the day of distribution for parents to pick up."

Mrs. Igleheart said the space should be heated and have a bathroom.

"There will be a lot of volunteers there and we'd like to make them comfortable where they don't have to go down to the corner market to go to the bathroom. Several years back, that's exactly what they did.

"And we'll clean it up to look better than what it did before we came in."

The Salvation Army would need to use the building a little more than a month. Distribution day will be Dec. 20.

Anyone with a building or storage space to donate should call the Salvation Army at 919-735-4811.
