Goldsboro Ballet dancers will show off what they learned at camps this summer, while also raising money for future performances during their annual Love of Dance/Silent Auction fundraiser Saturday.

The event will be at 7 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre.

Tickets are $12 for general seating, available at the Paramount box office or by calling 919-583-5432.

"They will dance the dances they have learned over the summer months," Goldsboro Ballet director Peggy Wingate said. "During June and July, the dancers try to stay with their ballet program, as well as learn new ideas from guest artists."

That included learning Ballenchine-like choreography from guest artist Josh Grant, dancer with Northwest Pacific Ballet. Then there was the fun jazz piece where the girls used their arms so much they named it "Phoenix" after the bird.

Other numbers that will be performed include "Dance Macabre" and "Rhinestone Kickstep," both choreographed by Grant, "State of Shock" choreographed by Joolie Davis, "Light of Mine" choreographed by Mary Franklin, "Swan Light Movement I" and "Grace Like Rain" choreographed by Peggy Wingate, "Clouds" choreographed by Brad Parquette and Mary Franklin, "Ooh La-La" and "Zero Hour" choreographed by Brad Parquette and "Phoenix" choreographed by Mary Franklin and guest artist Christopher Montoya from Seattle, Wash.

Dancers will be Shelby Ashford, Allison Barrow, Elizabeth Bynum, Amber Denning, Jaime Evans, Jordan Everett, Sarah Hodgin, Jade Jordan, Kristin Limbaugh, Lindsey Lloyd, Amelia Marriner, Korrie McEachern, Rachel Muscher, Danielle Sellers, Meagan Sutton, Emily Thorne, Jeanette Scheer, Charlotte Taricani, Hannah Harper, Helen-Anne Bynum, Landry Harrell, Deanna Shingleton, Brianne Cregan, Emily Shingleton, Bess Gibson, Anna West, Anna Clymer, Jessica Ballance, Ashleigh Daly, Becca Edmundson, Patricia Faulk, Anna Pender, Danielle Sellers, Madison Thrailkill, Grace West, Ava Clymer, Tristin Green, Abby Hackett, Laney Hales, Sutton Malone, Annika Forsleff, Jasmine Jahad, Brianne Creegan, Emily Shingleton and Bess Gibson.

Goldsboro Ballet's pre-support dancers, ages 5 and 6, will act as ushers during the event.

Love of Dance also includes a silent auction of items such tickets to the Carolina Ballet and Paramount Theatre's Performing Arts Series, wreaths, and other homemade items.

Bidding will be during intermission, 7:30 to 8 p.m.

There also will be a drawing for a Marie Grace American Girl doll. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

And there will be a 50-50 drawing. Tickets are $5 or five for $20.

Love of Dance is Goldsboro Ballet's big fundraiser.

"It came out of a need to get ourselves started," Mrs. Wingate said. "We financially work off ticket sales from the event, as well as donations from the public and businesses and grants. The money we earn will pay the theater for handling our tickets and for our programs during the winter."

Love of Dance has been presented for at least 20 years, Mrs. Wingate said.

"Love of Dance offered us a chance to show off the dances we learned during the summer, because we find them to be different. It also allows the girls to do something out in the modern field, too. We are classically oriented for Nutcracker and our spring concert."

Mrs. Wingate said anyone can attend the Love of Dance/Silent Auction fundraiser.

"We have a fun program lined up," she said. "I think the pieces will be very powerful."
