Alumni of former Norwayne High to hold weekend reunion

On Labor Day Weekend, high school graduates from Norwayne High School, Fremont Colored School, Friendship School, Pikeville Training School, along with relatives and friends, will gather for their 41st school reunion.

Activities will begin with a meet and greet gathering at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Norwayne Alumni & Friends Community Center at 106 E. Branch Street in Fremont.

On Saturday, activities will include a parade, banquet and dance. The annual parade in Fremont will start at 10 a.m., starting at the M.L. King Park, down Ballance Road, then down Main Street and ending at the park.

The banquet will be held at 6 p.m. and dance at 9 p.m. at the H.V. Brown Hall at the Dillard Alumni Cultural Center at 801 Poplar Street in Goldsboro. The banquet speaker will be the Rev. Linda Mckinnie Skinner of the Norwayne Class of 1963.

The Sunday morning worship service at 11 a.m. will be held at the Norwayne Alumni & Friends Community Center. The weekend activities will culminate with a gospel program at St. James Church of Christ at 514 Memorial Church Road in Fremon at 6 p.m.
