A Goldsboro woman is in the Wayne County Jail today under a $1 million secured bond on charges of sexual assault against a 14-year-old female.

After a two-month investigation, Tammi Nichole Cross, 21, of 810 N. Herman St. was taken into custody Tuesday, according to a press release issued by the Goldsboro Police Department.

She is charged with two counts of statutory sex offense with a person 13, 14, or 15 years old by a defendant six or more years older, as well as two counts of indecent liberties with a minor.

The initial complaint came May 25, when the victim's mother alleged that her teenage daughter had been involved in a sexual relationship with Ms. Cross.

Ms. Cross turned herself in to investigators at the Goldsboro Police Department and was placed in the Wayne County Jail pending a first appearance scheduled for today.

The Wayne County Community Corrections Division of Probation and Parole assisted in the case, according to the press release.
