PIKEVILLE -- Pikeville police are trying to discover the identity of the man who walked into the Heritage Bank at 100 W. Main St. Monday and held it up at gunpoint.
At this point. it is believed he acted alone.
"There was an armed robbery at about 12:20 p.m., involving one black male carrying a dark-colored handgun," police Chief Pascal Tucker said.
The suspect appeared to be wearing a rainsuit of some kind and had blue surgical gloves over his hands. He also wore a wig.
Tucker did not specify the amount of cash the robber stole, but said that he fled on foot and was last seen headed toward I-795. No vehicles were seen by the tellers, but there might have been one waiting nearby, Tucker said.
