Businesses honored at chamber event

Wayne County's 2013 Small Business of the Year nominees and winners were announced during the "Schmoozapalooza!" Business Expo held at Berkeley Mall on May 21.
The awards are sponsored by the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce and the Wayne Business and Industry Center's Small Business Center at Wayne Community College.
Winners were CoCo Darlings for Small Business of the Year (1-5 employees), Prudential/The McMillen Real Estate Group (six-50 employees) and Ya'll Know What for Small Business Startup of the Year.
CoCo Darlings is a unique party venue for 4- to 14-year-old girls. It has been in business for four years and has four employees,
Prudential/The McMillen Real Estate Group is a real estate company specializing in residential and commercial sales. It has been in business for 11 years and has six employees.
Ya'll Know What is an online media channel that delivers celebrity, local, and national news targeting black culture. It also promotes local events. It has been in business for two years.
The awards program was one of several events provided by the center and the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce in observance of Small Business Week.
