A Goldsboro man was arrested Thursday afternoon in the area of the Fairview Housing Community after an alleged sexual assault.
According to a press release issued by police, Tykeem Quayshon Wooten, 21, was found within two blocks of the scene of the crime. The call came in just after 3:15 p.m.
Investigator Dwayne Dean said that the suspect was located and arrested without incident after officers from the department's D-Shift and Housing Units converged on Fairview where the sexual assault had just occurred.
Evidence gathered at the scene determined that the victim, a 17-year-old female, did not know her attacker prior to the assault.
Wooten, of 104 Daffodil Drive in Dudley, was charged with second-degree sexual assault. He was also charged with second-degree trespassing due to the fact he had been previously banned from the Fairview Housing Community.
He is being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond and is scheduled for a first appearance in Wayne County Court on Tuesday.
