Multiple closings on tap for holiday

Local, state and federal offices, county schools as well as banks and the post office will be closed Monday, May 27, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.
All Wayne County offices including the Senior Center, libraries, Dudley landfill and convenience sites will be closed. The county's public schools, departments and administrative offices will be closed, too.
Town offices will be closed in Goldsboro, Mount Olive, Eureka, Fremont, Pikeville, Walnut Creek and Seven Springs.
In Goldsboro, sanitation services will be suspended on Memorial Day. Crews will pick up trash Wednesday, May 29.
Fremont will move its trash pickup from Monday to Tuesday because of the closing.
Mount Olive's recyclable center will be closed on Monday as well. Yard waste pickup will be delayed by one day. Monday's route will be picked up on Tuesday and Tuesday's route will be picked up on Wednesday.
Household garbage pickup will not be affected.
The Goldsboro/Wayne Transportation Authority will operate on a holiday schedule on Memorial Day. The bus service will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The van service will operate on a holiday schedule, which is the same as its Saturday schedule of 4 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Passengers requesting van service for May 27, 28 and 29 must call and schedule transportation no later than 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 23.
Carolina Southern Sanitation will be closed Monday. Customers normally served on that day will be served on Tuesday. Tuesday customers will be served on Wednesday. The schedule will return to normal on Thursday.
