A Goldsboro man has been charged with a series of attempted break-ins at ATM locations around the city after Goldsboro police officers caught him in the act early Monday.

Lorenzo Marice Farrow, 35, of 607 Longleaf Ave., was arrested after an alarm activation at 1:45 a.m. at the Cashpoints ATM at 161 Highway 111 South.

He was in the process of breaking in, police said.

Officers responded to a similar alarm at an ATM on North Berkeley Boulevard just after 5:30 a.m. Sunday, but were not able to catch the suspect.

Both ATMs belong to the N.C. State Employee's Credit Union.

A Bank of America ATM, located at 2801 Cashwell Drive, was found damaged by a bank employee on Friday. A door had been pried open and marks on the ATM indicated someone had tried to force it open.

In each case, police said, there was evidence of breaking and entering and attempted safecracking, but no money was ever obtained.

Police said Farrow had burglary tools when he was arrested Monday. He will be charged with that crime, as well as three counts each of breaking and entering and safecracking.

Farrow is scheduled to have a first appearance in Wayne County Court today. He is being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $25,200 secured bond.
