Participants at the annual Rose Banquet will not only get a meal and entertainment, but they will learn how abstinence can protect their future.
Sponsored by the Wayne Council on Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, the event is held to promote sexual abstinence among youths.
It will be held May 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wayne Center, and is for youths in grades six through 12. Youth groups must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is $4.
The menu will be glazed chicken, long grain and wild rice, green bean and mushroom medley, Hawaiian wheat rolls, chocolate brownie and sweet tea.
Entertainment will be by local recording artist Tim Pounds. He's a rapper, producer and art photographer.
"He has a positive message and heart for the youths," said council president Ta-Kisha Darden.
There will also be an abstinence skit by local 4-H'ers.
"It's a very eye-opening and thought-provoking skit that will make anyone think about how precious their sexuality is and a gift worth waiting for," Ms. Darden said.
Registration and payment are due by April 25. No money will be taken at the door.
