A fast-acting citizen witnessed a break-in at a neighbor's residence on Audubon Avenue Friday and called police.
Based on the description of the suspect's vehicle given by the 911 caller, officers from The Goldsboro Police Department's B-shift located the vehicle on Audubon Avenue heading toward the Lincoln Homes area and conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of South Pineview Avenue.
Three suspects fled on foot and one was caught attempting to hide in a nearby wooded area.
More than $4,500 in stolen jewelry and electronics were recovered and returned to the owner, all thanks to one citizen's alertness and willingness to act, police said.
The apprehended suspect, Latrae Mckinnon, 17, of East Holly Street, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit breaking and entering. He is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
One of the two remaining suspects has been identified as Shai Taylor Valentine, 18, of 1609 Rawlings St. He is wanted on the same charges faced by McKinnon. The third suspect has not yet been identified.
The Goldsboro police asks that anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Shai Valentine, or the identity and whereabouts of the third suspect, call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255, or text tips to 919-222-4230.
