Pink Hill Rose Festival to be held on April 13

PINK HILL -- The second annual Pink Hill Rose Festival will be held April 13 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in downtown Pink Hill.

Sponsored by the non-profit Pink Hill Area Preservation and Development Committee, the festival will include live music, inflatables, an antique car and tractor show, a dance exhibition, a zumba demonstration, free health screenings, a 5K walk/run and the Rose Festival Prince and Princess program (ages 3-5).

A dance will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Pink Hill gym. Barbecue lunch plates will be sold. The cost is $7 per plate.

The Chili Cook-Off returns for the second year and a golf tournament has been added.

Judging for the Chili Cook-Off will be by popular vote and a team of judges. Each person who buys a $5 chili ticket will receive an arm band. After each person has completed their tasting they will place a numbered armband in the box labeled with the name of his or her preferred cooking team.

Tasting will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Trophies will be presented for first and second place based upon popular vote (taste and presentation) and overall by a team of judges.

The golf tournament will be held Wednesday, April 10 at Key Vista Country Club, Pink Hill. The format will be three-person superball. The tournament will begin with an 8:30 a.m. tee time and conclude with lunch and awards. Teams will be limited to 18 and will be accepted on a first-come basis.

Entry fees are $150 for a three-player team, or $200 for a team and hole sponsor. Player "value packs" are also available for $20 per player. Value packs provide each player two mulligans and one red tee.

Proceeds will benefit the Pink Hill Wellness and Education Center.

A co-ed softball tournament will be held. The entry fee is $200 per team. The sign-up deadline is April 1. For information contact Megan McMahon at 910-372-3469.

A double-elimination doubles Corn Hole Tournament will be held at the gym at 1 p.m. Practice sessions will start at noon. The entry fee is $50 per team. Participants should bring their own bags.
