Most local as well as state offices will be closed Friday in observance of Good Friday. Banks, the post office and federal offices, however, do not observe the Easter holiday.
Town halls in Goldsboro, Mount Olive, Pikeville, Walnut Creek and Seven Springs will be closed Friday, as will Wayne County offices and the landfill and convenience sites.
Fremont and Eureka town halls will close Easter Monday. Trash will be picked up Tuesday instead of Monday in Fremont. The closing will not affect trash pick-up in Eureka.
In Goldsboro, Friday's sanitation services will be serviced this Wednesday.
The Mount Olive recyclable center also will be closed on Friday. Yard waste will be picked up on Wednesday and Thursday instead of Thursday and Friday. Household trash pick-up will be its regular schedule.
The spring break for Wayne County Public Schools begins Thursday for students who attend schools on the traditional calendar and Friday for students who attend Wayne Early/Middle College High and the Wayne School of Engineering.
All students will return to school on Monday, April 8. In addition, all schools, departments, and administrative offices will be closed on Monday, April 1.
Wayne Community College also will observe Good Friday, with no classes that day or the following week, resuming on April 8.
The GATEWAY transportation system will operate on a holiday schedule Friday. The bus service will run from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The van service will run from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. with no out-of-county transports.
Passengers requesting van service for Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday must call and schedule transportation by 2:30 p.m. this Wednesday.
