A Mount Olive man was killed just outside of Faison Sunday when the vehicle he was driving went off the road, struck a ditch and overturned.
Officials with the Sampson County State Highway Patrol said Jamal Wright, 27, was traveling northeast on State Road 1900, also known as Brewer Road, at about 10:25 a.m. when his vehicle slipped off the roadway to the right.
Wright then over-corrected, lost control, and his vehicle went off the road to the left and ran into the ditch.
Wright was alone in the vehicle, a Mazda SUV, and was likely not wearing a his seat belt, investigators said. The Highway Patrol office said the accident happened about a tenth of a mile from the Duplin County line.
