Two former 4th Fighter Wing commanders were recently nominated for promotion by President Barack Obama.

Col. Patrick Doherty, the man who, just last year, passed the wing's guidon to current Commander Col. Jeannie Leavitt, is set to receive his first star.

The brigadier general-elect serves as the director of assignments at the Headquarters Air Force Personnel Center located on Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas.

And Maj. Gen. James "Mike" Holmes is expected to pin on his third star -- less than a decade after he left Seymour Johnson Air Force Base as a colonel.

The lieutenant general-elect currently serves at the Pentagon as the assistant deputy chief of staff, operations, plans and requirements.
