Goldsboro police are investigating an armed robbery and shooting on Christmas Eve that sent one man to the Wayne Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.

Javaris Wooten, 32, of 304 Banks Ave. said he was walking along the 600 block of Wilmington Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. when he was approached by two unknown black men wearing masks.

The two subjects asked him where his book bag was and he walked them back to his red Saturn vehicle, which was parked near his grandmother's house at 609 Wilmington Ave.

The subjects instructed Wooten to sit in the driver's seat of the car and shot him in the neck with a handgun before taking his book bag and cell phone.

Wooten said the book bag, valued at $10, contained various medications.

Wooten's grandmother observed the two men standing next to Wooten's vehicle before they fled west on foot. The two suspects were both described as about 30 years old with long dreadlocks and wearing black pants and black jackets.

Wooten was later transferred to Vidant Health in Greenville.
