The holiday season is a time of joy and friendship filled with gifts, fun times and happy memories.
It is a time when family or the absence of family can be particularly poignant.
It is at this time and throughout the year that the work of volunteer Guardians ad Litem is especially important. Throughout the Wayne County community, more than 200 residents have come forward to serve as advocates for abused and neglected children, children in the court system through no fault of their own.
Together, last year, these volunteers advocated for 586 children and because of these volunteers, 290 children were able to have their cases closed because they were in safe and permanent homes.
The members of the Guardian ad Litem program thank each of these volunteers for their commitment to these children.
If you would like to be a part in assuring that children are safe and protected the program could use you as a volunteer. For more information, call 919-722-6300 or visit www.ncgal.org.
