Tammy Keel

Tammy Keel, principal of Mount Olive Middle School, was recently named Principal of the Year by the North Carolina School Community Health Alliance.

The announcement was made during the organization's annual conference in Raleigh. Mrs. Keel was chosen from nominations by leaders and staff of WISH, or the Wayne Initiative for School Health.

This is the first year for the award, which recognizes administration for recognizing and supporting the school-based health centers.

The N.C. School Community Health Alliance is the statewide organization supporting the work of school health centers and providing assistance to those communities interested in creating centers. School health centers are partnerships created by schools and community health organizations to provide medical and behavioral health services promoting the health and educational success of youth. The 55 school health centers in 25 counties are considered one of the most effective strategies for delivering preventive care to children and adolescents.
