A man robbed the Hasty Mart at 900 N. Spence Ave. just before 2 a.m. today, getting away with an unknown amount of cash.

The robber was described as a white man driving a blue Chevrolet Lumina.

According to Goldsboro police, he made three approaches to the counter before finally demanding the money in the cash register.

The store clerk told investigators that the man went to a cooler and selected an orange Gatorade. He brought the drink to the counter and then went to the restroom.

She said that when he returned to the counter and was given the price of the drink, he said he had to go to his car for more change.

He came back into the store with his hands in his pockets and demanded she give him the money.

When the clerk hesitated, he threatened to kill her.

The suspect took the money and left. His car was last seen headed east on Royall Avenue. No further description of the thief was available.

Investigators said even though a weapon was not visible, the threat of a weapon and physical harm were used in the commission of the crime. Therefore, if caught, the suspect will be charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255, or text tips to 919-222-4230. All information provided will remain anonymous, and any tip that leads to a felony arrest is eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
