Now that the Empty Stocking Fund party is over, some people might think that the need is, too.
The Empty Stocking Fund, which is used to pay for the party and the gifts for more than 500 children, is only about halfway to its goal.
So, donations are still being sought in order to keep the fund -- and the joy it brings to hundreds of needy children -- alive.
The fund is made up entirely of donations. Every dime goes directly to the children. All the work is done by volunteers.
Please consider making a donation to the Empty Stocking Fund, which has never failed to reach its goal in its 100-year history.
Donations can be mailed to The News-Argus at P.O. Box 10629, Goldsboro, NC 27532 or they can simply be dropped off at the newspaper office at 310 N. Berkeley Blvd.
And there are still some seats available for the Embers' Christmas concert to be held Dec. 17 at the Paramount Theatre. Proceeds from the concert will also support the fund. To obtain tickets, call 919-739-7810.
