The 34th annual Pancake Day fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club will be held Saturday, at the same price it's always been -- $5 a plate.
"It's the best bargain in town," said Jo Heidenreich, development director for the club on Royall Avenue.
The recipe has stayed faithful to the original staple, pancakes and sausage, with beverage also included for patrons who dine in.
Plates are available from 7 a.m. until noon, Mrs. Heidenreich said, for take-out or to eat there. Large orders can also be accommodated, and requests of 10 or more plates can be expedited by calling in advance to place an order.
Tickets are available through any board member or club staff at each of the three club locations, in Goldsboro, Fremont and Mount Olive.
Proceeds will benefit programs at the non-profit Wayne County club, founded in 1947.
"Most of the grants we get are for specific things, so this is for the general operating budget," Mrs. Heidenreich said.
Volunteers are also needed the day of the event, to help in the kitchen or with cleanup.

"Come out before the Christmas parade," Mrs. Heidenreich said. "That's a day chock-full of Christmas stuff.
"We would love (for people) to start out at the Boys & Girls Club, get a hot breakfast before a day of shopping and the Christmas parade."
