Shooting on Holly Street
Officials at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville could not comment this morning on the condition of Demetrice Joel Holloman, 33, 602 N. Claiborne St., after he was shot several times in front of a home at 1737 E. Holly St. just after 10 p.m. Monday. Holloman was transfered to Vidant by ambulance from Wayne Memorial Hospital, after being brought in by Wayne County EMS. According to a Goldsboro police report, the shooting is still under investigation. There is no suspect information listed on the report. Anyone with information is regarding the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
Knocked around
A man got an unexpected response when he knocked on the door of a friend's house Friday. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office report stated that Kyle Christopher Hankins, 25, of the Days Inn at 801 U.S. 70 Bypass E., went to Wayne Memorial Hospital's emergency room Friday and reported being assaulted at a nearby gas station. Officers from Goldsboro Police Department pressed Hankins about his story and he revealed that he was in fact assaulted by a friend. He knocked on the unidentified suspect's door and got no answer, but when he banged harder the door opened and gun was thrust in his face. He was then beaten with the butt of the pistol and he fled. The Sheriff's Office is now investigating, but no charges had been filed as of this report.
First-degree burglary
Just after 4 a.m. Saturday, Dana Lynn Horne, 30, 110 Mary Lane, awoke to find her front door wide open and her son's bedroom light on. The window in his room had been broken and the top sheet from his bed was gone. According to the report filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Horne said that she did not immediately find anything missing. A K-9 unit responded and attempted to track the suspect and the missing sheet, and wound up at a neighbor's home. The man, who did have a cut on his hand according to the report, was not listed as a suspect however, and Ms. Horne's son was not listed as missing or injured.
Breaking and entering
A break-in Monday at 204 N. Jackson St. netted thieves two flat-screen televisions, one 32-inches and the other 50-inches. According to the report filed by Goldsboro police, Bobby Major Singleton, 67, left his property secure on Nov. 12, at about 6:30 p.m. He then discovered the break-in Monday at about 7 p.m. and called police. He declined to have the scene processed by investigators, but listed the value of his property and the estimated damage at $2,100.
