For a century, Goldsboro and Wayne County residents have been helping needy children have a happy Christmas by donating to the Empty Stocking Fund, which provides gifts and a party to hundreds of youngsters.
Begun in 1912, the fund is celebrating its centennial year and again residents are being asked to give what they can to help make a child's holiday brighter. The party will be held Dec. 8 at Goldsboro High.
As always, The News-Argus will publish the names of donors and the names of anyone a donor wishes to make their gift in honor or memory of. Donations should be mailed to the Empty Stocking Fund, c/o The News-Argus, P.O. Box 10629, Goldsboro, NC 27532, or they may be dropped off at the newspaper at 310 N. Berkeley Blvd.
