The Wayne County Museum will begin offering more opportunities for visitors now that the museum has expanded its Saturday hours.

The museum is now open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., according to Assistant Director Christopher Lawson.

The museum will continue to offer other visitation time by appointment, he said, as well as during special events, which are often held Tuesdays from 7 to 8 p.m.

The next such event will be Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. when a representative from the Fayetteville Transportation Museum will discuss the War of 1812 and its connections to North Carolina, featuring a speaker in period dress.

The museum will also be looking to include more kid-friendly programs in the near future and is also looking to expand its collection of Wayne County artifacts.

Individuals with historical items that tell the story of Wayne County are encouraged to contact the museum to arrange a visit. The intent is to expand the museum's permanent collection through donations.
