Mount Olive police search for shooting suspect

Mount Olive police are searching for a man accused of a Thursday afternoon shooting that has left man in critical condition at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Montrall Anthony Sloan, 29, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and is currently on a ventilator following the shooting that occurred in 300 block of Oliver Street in Mount Olive. A second female victim, who identity was not released, was not harmed.

The suspect, Phillip Xavier Armwood, was the passenger in a small, white, two-door car. The shots were fired from a handgun he was seen holding, according to the police report.

Police cautioned that Armwood, who has addresses listed in both Mount Olive and Goldsboro, has an extensive criminal record, has gang affiliations, and that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Armwood is a black male, 24 years old, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and 135 pounds. On his right forearm is the tattoo "Phil." He also has other tattoos on both hands, right bicep and right forearm. He goes by the names "Lil' Phil," "Phil," and "Tawana's Boy."
