A student on her way to Eastern Wayne High School early this morning today received a broken leg after a deer struck by a passing vehicle hit her as she was walking along New Hope Road.
Ashley Katherine Kedzierski, 16, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital to be treated after she was struck by the animal as she and another student were walking to school.
The deer was coming out of a wooded area about 7:35 a.m. when it was hit by a Chevy pickup driven by Claudie Royce Gray, 58. The impact propelled the deer into Kedzierski.
The second student, who was unidentified, was not injured.
