Convicted robber's sentence delayed

A sentencing hearing for a Wayne County man convicted of a string of business robberies in 2009 and 2010 has been continued until December.

Domonic Devarrise Usher, 30, was to be in Raleigh Monday for sentencing by U.S. Chief Justice James Dever III, but the sentencing has been continued until Dec. 3.

Usher was convicted on 15 counts, among them one for conspiracy to rob a business engaged in interstate commerce, seven for robbing a business engaged in interstate commerce and seven for possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

According to court records, Usher and five co-conspirators robbed businesses in Goldsboro, Pikeville and Wilson from November 2009 until March 2010.

Usher is associated with five robberies of Dollar General stores throughout Wayne and Wilson counties and the Family Dollar store on South George Street.
