The Wayne County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations in a recent drug raid.

Early Sunday morning, Christopher Cox, 24, of 3306 Thoroughfare Road, was charged by the Sheriff's Office ACE Team at 1202 N. Berkeley Blvd., for trafficking in opiates or heroin, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, and maintaining a vehicle for the sale of a controlled substance.

Cox was placed in Wayne County Jail under a $225,000 secured bond.

According to Maj. Tom Effler of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, the base's law enforcement involvement indicates that military members were likely involved, but are not necessarily the subjects of the investigation.

Air Force OSI public affairs director Linda Card said that OSI only investigates allegations of felony level cases, and assists local law enforcement when requested.

For now, neither the Sheriff's Office nor the military investigators are saying who Cox was allegedly selling to or how many others might be involved in the investigation. The case remains open.
