Sources close to the family say the body of Kennedy Fitzgerald McLaurin Jr. has been found. A press conference is planned for 5 p.m., during which both law enforcement and the family are expected to make statements. Law enforcement officials have spent the day searching in the Seven Springs area where physical evidence connected to the 16-year-old's disappearance has reportedly been found -- evidence that a city spokeswoman has said was found through tips to the police hotline.
No arrests have been made, but Goldsboro police announced earlier today that the abduction of Kennedy Fitzgerald McLaurin Jr. "was not a random act" and that he is believed to have connections to the three or four black men who took him from the 700 block of Bain Street in the Woodcrest Housing Community on Sept. 9.
McLaurin was reported missing on Sept. 10 by his mother, Kimberly Best, when he didn't come home. An Amber Alert was issued on Sept. 12.
