Knife in school
Officials at Tommy's Road Elementary School were notified Tuesday that one of their students had a knife. Reports made by students to a bus driver, and later by a parent of a student to the school, resulted in a 10-year-old female student being called down to the administrator's office. After initially denying she had a knife, the student produced the weapon from her backpack and was immediately suspended for 10 days. This is the second knife brought to a school by an elementary student so far this year in Wayne County.
Stolen scooter
A scooter was stolen from outside the home of Freeman Todd Stepp, 44, 115 Greystone Drive, Tuesday. According to a report filed with Sheriff's Deputies, the Thunder Bike Moto Scooter was parked outside the house, and when Stepp went to cover it up he found it was missing. A full face helmet was taken as well. The scooter and helmet were valued at $2,075.
Wallet stolen
Daniel M. Starks, 39, reported to Goldsboro police that he suspected a recent overnight guest of stealing his wallet, and that his bank card had been used to withdraw funds and make purchases later that day. The total amount taken, including the value of the wallet and its contents, was listed on the report at $225.
Assault
A high school student was attacked by a group of youths Wednesday, according to a report filed by Goldsboro Police Department. Cameron Govantes, 16, was walking in the 1900 block of South Drive at about 3 p.m. when an unspecified number of juveniles assaulted him. No injuries were listed on the report.
Breaking and entering
A vacant home was stripped of appliances, sometime within the last six days. The Wayne Avenue residence, owned by John Tart II, 60, 585 King Road, was left secured at about 5 p.m. Thursday. When Tart returned around the same time Tuesday, he discovered the refrigerator, stove, freezer and a washing machine had all been taken. A window air conditioning unit had also been removed. According the report filed with police Wednesday, the value of the stolen times totaled $410.
