Members of the 916th Air Refueling Wing will formally welcome their newest leader Sunday morning during a ceremony on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

And Col. Gregory Gilmour, a seasoned aviator who has logged more than 4,000 flight hours in everything from Navy helicopters to Air Force tankers, is ready, he said, to take the guidon.

During a recent interview with the News-Argus, Gilmour said he is looking forward to picking up where outgoing commander Col. Randall Ogden leaves off -- that the airmen and the wing represent the very best the Air Force Reserve has to offer.

"The tanker world is the blue collar worker. Nothing moves if we don't move," Gilmour said. "They don't go very far without us. The first thing the general is screaming for isn't a fighter. It's, 'Where is the tanker?"

"So I don't need to get in their way. This is a great wing. So my job, really, is just to continue to support them."
