A Goldsboro woman was the victim of a hit and run Sunday. The pedestrian was struck while crossing Elm Street at about 11:30 p.m.
According to Goldsboro Police Department's Maj. Mike West of the traffic division, 20-year-old Bobbi Marie Cannon, of Fussell Street, was crossing Elm Street at the intersection of Devereaux Street when she was struck by a dark or tan colored SUV. The driver then sped off.
"She walked west, said she heard the vehicle slowed, she began to cross and as she got across, the vehicle accelerated and struck her," said West.
According to the report from which West was reading, a witness said that the vehicle actually came to a complete stop and seemed to allow Cannon to cross the street, but then started moving again before she got all the way across.
The vehicle then continued east on Elm St. and then turned onto Slocumb St., said West.
No description of the driver was given, and Cannon was not seriously injured.
