The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in the Sept. 11 theft of a $175,000 cement truck from S&W Ready Concrete.
According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, Kevin Eason Jacobs, 24, 123 Meadowcrest Drive, was arrested and charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen motor vehicle and placed under a $10,000 secured bond.
The Mack truck allegedly stolen by Jacobs, was found wrecked and abandoned on Promised Land Road in LaGrange. Damage to the vehicle was listed in the report as valued at $40,000.
Investigators have no indication as to what the truck was intended to be used for after it was stolen.
"I have no idea," said Maj. Tom Effler, of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office investigations division. "I don't know whether he was just joyriding or what he was going to do with it."
The N.C. Highway Patrol and Lenoir County Sheriff's Office both assisted in the investigation and other arrests are expected as things progress.
