A three-month investigation into alleged criminal activity at a local produce stand has resulted in the arrest of two local men.
Larry Wayne Lane, 59, of Dudley, and Jerry Thomas Lane, 31, of Mount Olive have been charged with trafficking in opiates and maintaining a dwelling for the sale of narcotics and are both in the Wayne County Jail under hefty bonds.
The investigation began after members of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team received information that Larry's Fruit Stand on Highway 117 South was a front for the sale of prescription narcotics.
Over the course of three months, members of the A.C.E. Team, along with members of the Wayne County Drug Squad and NC SBI, facilitated several hand to hand drug buys from the Lanes.
Larry Lane is being held under a $731,000 secured bond and Jerry Lane's bond was set at $1.35 million bond.
