Officers ID body found on highway

The body of the man found dead in a roadside ditch Thursday has been identified as Kim Douglas McKoy Jr., 26, of Rose Hill, and according to a report released Saturday, his death has been ruled a homicide.
Despite the fact that the autopsy report has yet to be released, Sampson County Medical Examiner Dr. Carl Barr confirmed that McKoy was shot four times, twice in the face and twice in the chest.
Barr said that based on the evidence and condition of the body, McKoy was likely left in the ditch late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
The Sampson County Sheriff's office and State Bureau of Investigation is continuing to look into the killing.
