The mystery as to what business would be moving into the retail space attached to Olive Garden and when it will open has been solved, as Dee Taylor, the director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Eastern North Carolina, said Tuesday she expects the cell phone carrier's retail store to open at its new location by the end of the year.
"The new store will elevate the customer experience and make it easy for customers to try out and explore U.S. Cellular's cutting-edge devices," Mrs. Taylor said in a statement.
The retail store on Spence Avenue will be moving to the vacant storefront on North Berkeley Boulevard, but an exact date for the move has not yet been released.
Next door, a spokesperson for Darden Restaurants said Tuesday that Olive Garden is still expected to open in October, while its sister restaurant, LongHorn Steakhouse (both are owned by Darden), will open July 31.
Just a few blocks south, Juan Aguirre is planning to open a new Mexican restaurant, La Perraza, in the former New China building.
Aguirre and his associates have renovated the building and landscape extensively to give it a more Central American feel.
The restaurant will have full ABC permits and is expected to open in September.
