First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro will have a special Celebrate Freedom event Sunday at its 9 and 10:45 a.m. services.
The speaker will be Army Chaplain James Ward Jr., a Greensboro resident who has recently returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. He will talk about his experiences in that country.
In addition to the speaker, there will also be patriotic music and videos.
And the event will honor active duty military, community service workers and three special local fallen people -- Specialist Jocelyn Carrasquillo, Lt. Cmdr. Dale Taylor and Det. Allen Pearson. Their families will be present, and their uniforms and awards will be on display for visitors to look at.
"We want to recognize the accomplishments of these three people and acknowledge their ultimate sacrifice to our country," said Marla Glaesman, promotions director for the church.
The event is open to the public.
