MOUNT OLIVE -- No foul play is suspected in the Wednesday afternoon drowning of a 20-year-old Mount Olive woman.
Wayne County Sheriff's Major Tom Effler said Meghan Beth Roberts was found lying face down in an aboveground swimming pool around 5:25 p.m. at a home at 3539 Emmaus Church Road east of Mount Olive.
"We believe it was accidental," Effler said.
Effler said she was discovered by Lindsay Rae Roberts, 22, of Mount Olive. Effler said he was unsure how the two women were related.
He said that Lindsay Rae Roberts had received a text message, possibly an invitation to stop by, from Meghan Beth Roberts about 4 p.m.
Firefighters from the Indian Springs Fire Department were called and helped to remove Meghan Beth Roberts from the pool, he said.
The case has been turned over to the medical examiner. An autopsy is expected to be ordered because of the victim's age.
