The Wayne County Veterans and Patriots Coalition will begin its annual three-day memorial to those who have fallen in combat Saturday morning.
The public is invited to attend an 8 a.m. breakfast to be held Saturday at the American Legion Post 11 headquarters.
And after the meal -- ham biscuits, doughnuts and more will be offered to those who attend -- American flags will be passed out to those in attendance and placed next to the graves of more than 3,000 veterans at cemeteries across the county.
But perhaps the biggest part of the remembrance, the program 335th Fighter Squadron Commander Lt. Col. Dave Moeller has been asked to speak at, will take place Monday at 11 a.m. inside Wayne Community College's Moffatt Auditorium.
And after Moeller, a man who just returned from a six-month stint in Afghanistan, speaks, Gold Star honoree Becky Harrell, whose husband died last year from complications associated with Agent Orange exposure, will lead a wreath-laying ceremony.
Her story will be told in Sunday's News-Argus.
