This video capture provided by Goldsboro police shows a man robbing the Ash Street Wells Fargo Bank on Tuesday.

Goldsboro police are searching for a suspect in a mid-morning bank robbery in downtown Goldsboro on Tuesday.

A police report says a suspect, described as a 5-foot-6-inch, 160-pound white man, entered the Wells Fargo bank at the corner of East Ash and William streets at 10:13 a.m. and walked up to the teller, where he demanded all of the money in the drawer.

The police report indicates that the suspect put a bag over the counter with one hand while keeping his other arm down by his leg to give the impression that he was armed. The report indicated that it was unknown whether the suspect was truly armed.

The teller put $1,800 cash into the bag and the suspect fled on foot, heading north on William Street.

According to the report, the suspect was wearing a dark sport coat and light pants with white tennis shoes and a tan bucket hat. He was described as being between 45 and 55 years old.

Several police cars remained at the bank building at 301 E. Ash St. throughout the rest of the morning and the branch remained closed for the rest of the day. The bank is operating on its normal schedule today.

Further information from the police department could not be obtained today.
