Jury selection is expected to begin today in the first-degree murder trial of three men allegedly responsible for the death of the owner of a Goldsboro convenience store.

Joshua Earl Devon Davis, Quentin Lamont Kenon and Rashard Vondarius Oliver are believed to have played a role in an armed robbery that turned deadly when shots were fired at the Brookside Convenient Mart on South Slocumb Street in August 2008.

The three men were originally charged with armed robbery, attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury, but when store owner Ribhi Mohammed Kandeel died from wounds suffered during the incident, the charges were elevated to first-degree murder.

Judge Jack Jenkins, of Morehead City, will be presiding in the non-capital case and Assistant District Attorney Mike Ricks will represent the state.
