Attempted home invasion
Darlene Strickland reported an unknown man attempted to force his way into her home in the 100 block of Southwinds Drive in Dudley about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Her 16-year-old son, Dylan Strickland, told Wayne County Sheriff's deputies that he was awakened by a man banging on the door. He told them he was approaching the door when the suspect managed to push it open, but that he was able to shut and lock the door. He told deputies the man threatened to shoot him if he did not let him into the home. Ms. Strickland then called authorities, and the suspect ran from the home and possibly left in a vehicle.
Woman loses ring while tanning
Kimberly Mitchell reported the leaving behind a gold diamond anniversary ring, valued at $800, at a Flip Flops Tanning, located at 162 Five Points Road in Dudley. Ms. Mitchell used the salon before taking a vacation and did not realize the ring was missing until arriving at her destination, according to the report. She told Wayne County Sheriff's deputies that she returned to the tanning salon, but no one had come forward about finding the ring. The ring had approximately 24 diamonds inside of four diamond-shaped designs.
Dog taken
Kristy Penzer reported the theft of an 18-month-old, full-blooded pit bull, white and black in color, named "Chief" from the 100 block of West Oak Street.
The suspects(s) pried off four boards from a fence and kicked in a second fence to reach the 80-pound dog, Ms. Penzer referred to the dog as a "friendly puppy" to deputies.
Firearm stolen
Marcus Smith reported the theft of a .40-caliber Glock, valued at $600, and a Tom-Tom GPS from his vehicle while it was at his home in the 800 block of North Berkeley Boulevard.
Home break-in
Ericka Pigford reported a breaking and entering at her home in the 1100 block of Beech Street that occurred between Saturday and Monday. Items stolen during the incident includes a 32-inch TV, jewelry and pocket book, which had a total value of more than $2,000.
