A Goldsboro teenager is being treated at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for gunshot wounds he received about midday Sunday.
Antonio Deans, 19, of 511 N. Kornegay St., was found by Goldsboro police at the corner of Westview Court and Poplar Street shortly after noon.
Police later confirmed Deans was in a vehicle at the time of the shooting.
Officers responding to a call about shots being fired discovered Deans lying in the street.
The shooting scene is located between Lincoln Homes and First African Baptist Church on Harris Street.
He was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, then taken by helicopter to Greenville. No report on his condition was available.
Goldsboro police Sgt. Dwayne Dean said police are investigating the shooting but that no arrests have been made. He would not say how many times the victim had been shot nor what type of firearm was used.
"We have some persons of interest, and the investigations is still ongoing," Deans said.
