Council approves Streetscape

After months of debates and years of plans, the first block of Center Street's Streetscape project will undergo the first phase of renovations after a 4-3 vote Friday afternoon.
Goldsboro City Council members offered their opinions both for and against the project in front of a capacity crowd at historic City Hall, where many leapt to their feet after the motion passed.
"This means a new future for downtown," Downtown Goldsboro Development Corp. Director Julie Thompson said following the vote.
The decision awards the contract for the $1.3 million renovation effort to Daniels and Daniels Construction.
