Another Cherry bomb threat
A call was made to the 911 center at 5:25 a.m. Monday claiming a bomb was at the Cherry Hospital construction site on West Ash Street.
The call was traced to a pay phone at 901 N. William St.
Goldsboro police were dispatched to the scene.
Monday's hoax is the eighth time a bomb threat has held up construction since the project began, project manager Carlos Torres said.
Vandals target golf course
Lane Tree Golf Club employee Marcus Kelly reported the destruction of property at the facility, located at 2317 Salem Church Road, that occurred between Friday and Saturday.
Graffiti was spray painted on a cooler stand, a shelter, three flag sticks, four cups, and four greens. The value of the damage was reported at $5,140.
Attempted burglary at Chinese eatery
China Taste employee Yungin Dong reported a robbery at the restaurant, located at 301 N. George St., that took place Friday about 7 p.m.
After ordering and paying for the food, the suspect returned to the restaurant and said he did not get his food and that he was overcharged, according to the report.
Ms. Dong told the man his food was at his table. The suspect then reached across the counter and pressed a button to open the register and grabbed at the money. Ms. Dong closed the register and called authorities.
Vehicle thefts
*Wille Wheeler Jr. reported the theft of a 1993 Buick Park Avenue, valued at $2,500, from his home in the 900 block of Fifth Street.
The vehicle was unlocked with its keys inside when the theft took place between Friday and Saturday. Authorities notified Wheeler that the vehicle was located at a crash site less than 100 yards from his home. No witness were present at the scene.
*James Tyndall reported the theft of a $3,000 1994 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck that was stolen from his home in the 300 block of Vail Road in Mount Olive between Saturday and Sunday. The truck was left unsecured behind his home with a key inside. The vehicle was found Sunday parked on the side of the 300 block of Hinnant Road.
*Katie Darden reported the larceny of her 2006 Dodge Stratus from the Walmart parking lot at 1002 N. Spence Ave. while she was working late Saturday at the retailer. The value of the vehicle was reported at $13,000. Surveillance footage shows the video leaving the parking lot, but no signs of forced entry.
*Howell Farm employee William Odom reported the theft of tools and a vehicle from the business' commercial property, located at 299 Frankies Lane, that took place between Saturday and Sunday. A key to the $5,000 2002 Silverado pickup truck was found on the vehicle. Along with $600 of tools, a $1,700 truck radiator was also stolen.
*Lee Casey, of Casey Nursery Inc., reported a break-in of three buildings on the farm's property, located at 1115 Claridge Nursery Road, that occurred Saturday. A $1,000 2001 Nissan Frontier pickup truck and a $10,000 Kubota tractor were stolen and recovered on Howell Farm property, which is joined by a dirt path.
According to the report, it appeared the pickup became stuck in the mud and the tractor was used in an attempt push it out, but the tractor also became stuck in the mud. The two vehicles were returned to the owner.
Items not recovered to Casey included $1,300 of tools and equipment.
B&Es and larcenies
*Tanikia Smith reported the theft of three pieces of jewelry, valued at more than $5,000, from her home in the 1000 block of South Andrews Avenue. No forced entry was reported. The larceny took place Wednesday night.
*Shelley Deleon reported a break-in to an outbuilding at her home in the 100 block of Rose Landing Drive that occurred between Feb. 24 and March 2.
After a lock on the building was pried off, a $200 Weed Eater, $900 generator, $500 tool-set battery, $100 shop vacuum and a $1,200 pressure washer were stolen.
*Rosemary Pigford reported the theft of two 52-inch TVs, valued at $600 a piece, and a $200 laptop from her home in the 500 block of Rollingwood Drive in Dudley that took place Friday. Entry was made after a rear window was broken.
*Charles Priestley reported a break-in at his home in the 200 block of South Harding Drive that took place Saturday.
More than $2,000 of property was reported stolen, which included a 52-inch TV, PlayStation, PlayStation games, laptop, wireless router, and two electric guitars. The home was entered by prying open the front door.
*Brandie Miller reported a break-in at her home in the 200 North Hereford Drive that occurred Friday. A $600, 42-inch TV was taken after entry was made by prying open the front door to the home.
*David Maduzia reported a break-in at a home in the 100 block of Quaker Drive that occurred between Jan. 15 and Sunday. During the break-in, a washer, stove and refrigerator were removed. The total value of the appliances was reported at $1,000.
*Southern Wayne Sanitation District employee William Garris reported the theft of $2,000 of metal piping and valves from a fire hydrant located in the 300 block of South Landfill Road. The larceny took place between Friday and Saturday.
