North Carolina pre-kindergarten applications are now being accepted by The Partnership for Children for the 2012-13 school year. Priority is given to eligible children who have not been served in any other preschool or child-care program.

The community-based program serves children who are at-risk and prepares them for success in school. Children attend a six and one-half hour school day and the program meets high-quality standards.

To be eligible, children must be 4 years old on or before Aug. 31, 2012.

Family income must also be within a range set by the state. Applications are available on the Partnership website, www.pfcw.org, or may be picked up at The Partnership for Children Office, 800 N. William St., Monday through Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Parents should bring the following documents for their child: birth certificates, insurance/Medicaid information, annual physicals, and immunization records and verification of child's special need. Current proof of family income should also be provided.

For more information, contact Valerie Wallace at 735-3371 ext. 231 or Shelley Willis at ext. 235.
