Two Goldsboro men were kidnapped at gunpoint Sunday night after the vehicle in which they were traveling was stopped by suspects who used a blue light to pull them over, deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said today.
Geniro Gamis, 48, and Israil Aguirre, 24, were traveling on Leonard Drive, off East New Hope Road, when they were forced out of their vehicle and into a white SUV about 10:30 p.m.
Two female relatives of the men were with them at the time and reported the kidnapping to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
The kidnapped men live in the same home on D&W Circle, which is located near Leonard Drive in the Central Heights area.
Maj. Tom Effler of the Sheriff's Office said the suspects included five or six Hispanic men "dressed in normal clothing and wearing face masks."
Effler said this morning that it remains unclear why the men would have kidnapped Gamis and Aquirre.
He said little is known about the suspects at this point, but that the investigation is continuing.
"We will follow up on whatever we can, and we will pursue any lead," Effler said.
The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Gamis or Aguirre, or any other information about the incident to contact deputies at 580-1481.
Anonymous calls can be made to Crime Stoppers at 735-2255 or by texting 273-6585.
